ADG Apotheken-Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH, Mannheim, has acquired around 90 percent of the shares in Novodata Zrt., Budapest, after receiving the approval of the Hungarian antitrust authorities. The goal is a 100 percent takeover. Novodata provides merchandise management and till systems for pharmacies. The company, founded in 1988, is the market leader in Hungary with around 50 employees.
This takeover will supplement the product range of ADG’s Hungarian subsidiary LX-Line Kft. By selling the company, the former majority shareholder Balázs Kovács arranges for its succession by bringing the company under the umbrella of ADG, which is part of the PHOENIX group. PHOENIX is a family business and a leading pharmaceutical trader in Europe. The parties have agreed not to disclose any details of the purchase price.
"The takeover of Novodata strengthens our position in the Hungarian healthcare market", stated Oliver Windholz, Chief Executive Officer of the PHOENIX group. "The company is experiencing great success and ADG is keen to pool its expertise with Novodata and develop new solutions in the field of pharmacy software and till systems."
The acquisition is part of the long-term strategy of PHOENIX "to be the best integrated healthcare provider – wherever we are", continued Windholz. The pharmaceutical trader offers services and products for the entire pharmaceutical supply chain from a single source. This comprehensive range is based on the close integration of Wholesale, Retail, and Pharma Services.
